Moonlit Night Chapter 1

Here's is the first full chapter of a story I've been writing for a while now.

The prologue of the story is also on this blog.

1. Mission

I starred out of the car doors window, into the starry night sky. I gotten tired of waiting for some sign of activity from my target inside of the overly packed bar. I guess there’s nothing much to expect of my job during times like these, other then waiting in the cold, silent, darkness. This mission started much earlier at 9:34 P.M. when my target an extremely wealthy businessman walked into this bar, the Golden Hollow.
This man, Mr. Randolph Uley, is one of the worlds most powerful and successful man, but even though he is that well known, his history is not all that clean and innocent. His company, UHB, has been established since 1998 and is the number one bank in most of the world, but even his company is not all to innocent in the way it gained its strength. The agency that I work for has decided that thanks in part to his sleazy business methods that he is to great of a threat to mankind, and so I was sent here to exact the worlds justice on this man.

I looked back down from the stars to take a look at a sudden movement that caught my attention. There in the now open doorway of the bar that I have been staking out at, stood two men wear business attire and packing two uzi’s each. They pointed out to my car with their guns.
“Don’t you think that you guys were the first people to try that one on me” I exclaimed to myself.
Then, right there inside the doorway, they unloaded a whole 4 rounds in total into the driver side of my car. The two men walked forward into the street and strait to the side of the car, that now looked like Swiss cheese. They looked through the broken window into the car to see that there was no dead body inside of the vehicle. Actually there was nobody inside the car at all.
“Hey, you two messed up my car,” I whispered into the ears of the two men.
I stood behind the two men, who weren’t expecting me to even be alive. I raised my custom made pistol, which from the size of it must have weighted around 6 or 8 pounds, and pistol whipped the two men in seconds.
They fell down with a great thud. I had only the nanomachines coursing through my body to thank for the ability to escape from that almost hopeless situation. Before any more of Mr. R’s own personal guards came out of the bar I ran towards the nearest building at a speed that was by far humanly impossible, and ran up the side of the building and landed inaudibly on the roof. I lay down so as not to be seen by anyone who were to walk upon the scene two stories below.
The only reason I could do any of the things that I just did was thanks in part to the organization that I work for. They developed the nanomachines that gives people superhero like abilities. Even the organization’s goal is story like given the day and time. Their one and only goal is to stop human suffering. In order to do so though they have to use some violence sometimes. Which is when people like me come into play with their plans.

I am what is called an agent, and that is a person who was given the nanomachines in order to fight the evil in this world. Some say that we are nothing but murderers, but in all actuality killing for no reason at all goes against the code that we follow. There are so many rules held within the code, which we call the Holy Rights, that there would be no way a person not using nanomachines could remember. Even so Killing innocence is one of the most sacred rules within the Holy Rights.
That’s why I only knocked the men below me unconscious instead of killing them. I slowly looked up and over the ledge to see where the people who undoubtedly would be scouting the area around the scene that was once my car. I noticed an opening in between the bar and the building next to it, and I knew that the alleyway turns into a dead end on the right once you get past the end of the bar. So I took the chance that I had, and ran at full force through the air, down the alley, and around the corner all in a few seconds and without making a single sound.
I had to go back to waiting for a while so as not to risk hurting any innocence. Instead the plan in an instance like this one would be to wait for the enemy to get agitated and leave its location. Then with skill and speed go for the kill the second an opening appeared, and then make your leave before the body even falls. A plan like that could only be achieved if you were to cover any and all exits while remaining unseen from every person in the area.
So the best spot that I figured would be on top of the building next to the bar, for it was high enough in the air that I wouldn’t be seen from anyone on the ground, and yet with my genetically enhanced eye’s I could watch both the back and front exits. I ran up all five stories in 5 seconds flat and perched myself on the ledge, ready to wait for as long as was needed.

I sat there, on top of this building, waiting for the right moment to strike. Normally a person who is so implosive like him would play out a certain set of scenarios in a situation like this. First they would send out a few of their grunts to scout the scene around the premises. This of was happened a little while ago. The next step would be after the grunts reported back to the leader, he would start to show signs of panic.
This apparently happened to have occurred earlier as well, because the scene below my feet was obviously step three. Complete fear and paranoia. He sent out every person he had with him that had anything from a gun to a stick. The only exception to this would most likely be his own personal body-guards. The step that will be coming in a few minutes as when a couple of guards go in to report that they found nothing, and with that news he will call for his vehicle. All the other guards will remain here until dawn breaks, but he will leave way before then. When he leaves the bar to enter his vehicle is when I will make my move.

It wasn’t long before the steps started to move again. Three guards entered the bar a minute ago and if all was going in the right direction a vehicle, most likely a limo, would pull up in the front of the bar. That would be the only good place to park it, because in the darkness would be to easy for an assassin to attack from. So I got up from my perch and slowly walked to the end of side of the building that was facing the road.
I stayed standing this time, as I knew that it wouldn’t take long for the limo to roll up to the bar. I waited a few more minutes, and then I caught sign of a car that looked way to conspicuous to be a normal vehicle someone would drive. Now remember what I said when it was the most stupid move to park the vehicle on the other side of the bar, well it just so happened he they parked it in the shadows.
I only had around 40 seconds until they moved him. I could run to the limo in 6 seconds and not get caught, so I decided to wait a little while.
“35.. 34.. 33.. 32.. And… lets go!” I exclaimed to myself.
With that I ran at full speed off of the the building and on to the road below me. I didn’t make a noise but I did attract a little attention from some of the guards that were standing in the road. The second they started to look at me I zipped in between them. Dodging them by only centimeters, but all the while not making a single noise or breeze. I ran to the end of the bar and just as I turned I saw that Mr. R, was just starting to walk out of the door on the other end.
I knew that all along about this door, but I never thought that they would actually take him out through this way. I pull a dagger that I had hidden inside of a side pocket on my pants, and ran towards the target at full speed. He didn’t know what hit him. The second I felt the dagger pierce through his heart I pulled it out and jumped on top of the building behind the bar in 30 milliseconds.

Behind me, the man Mr. Randolph Uley, Businessman and mob lord, fell to the ground as a small gust of wind swooped by. All of his now former body guards will have no idea how it happened. And with that ended my 368th mission as agent 36, known as agent Daybreak.

Moonlit Night: Epilogue

Preface:

I always was under their complete and never ending control, so when it happened, I was conflicted with mixed emotions about the whole circumstance.
I no longer could control my bodies movement, and the more I fought against the propulsion of my body, as it moved towards the target, it became harder and harder to fight back, and so I gave into the urge. My body grabbed the target, and dashed toward the window of the mansion’s third story master bedroom.
My now freed mind, only thought of escaping with the target. This beautiful women in my arms, and the fear we both had of the group who had control over me, until the very second I laid my eyes on her.

In that fleeting moment, which must have been several minutes ago from this free fall we were going through now, I regained my conscious thought and decided to save this women before me.
As I landed in the thicket, in front of the beautiful Victorian age mansion that used to be my now ex-targets home, I realized how much we were out matched by. I figured that we would die now, I thought that I should just keep running and try to figure out this whole mess. I thought back through the debriefing for this mission, I thought about how I explained what I was supposed to do and that I chose a different fate for the two of us, and I finally thought of how she excepted what I said immediately and agreed to come along.

Thinking about it made me laugh, because if she truly believed my story then she would surely die tonight, and yet if I was lying, something even worse could have happened.
Was she tired of her life so much she would trust what a total stranger told her.
Is she that desperate to end her life yet to afraid to end it herself. If that was the case then she surely will get her wish, and I would be the one to execute the wish for her, and so I just ran forward into our destiny, to die together on this moonlit night.
